Clipper or razor?

Every line-up sets the same three edges: cheek, lip and neck. The only choice is the finish. Clipper is soft and costs $12. Razor is sharp and costs $25.

Clipper beard line-up

$12

A quick tidy with the trimmer. Cheek line and neckline are cleaned up, strays come off, and the length stays put.

Looks like
Neat but natural. The edge is soft, so it still looks like your own beard, just tidier.
Suits you if
you keep a short beard or stubble and want it in shape between haircuts.
Growing back
Stubble softens the edges again after a few days, so it suits a regular tidy between haircuts.

Straight-razor beard line-up

$25

Your barber sets the lines, then clears the skin outside them with a straight razor. Sharp edges, razor finish.

Looks like
Crisp, drawn-on edges with clean skin on the other side of every line.
Suits you if
you want a sharp cheek line and neckline for an event or photos, or you simply like it crisp.
Growing back
The razor takes the stubble right off the skin, so the edge stays crisp a little longer than a clipper tidy.

Not sure which? Tell your barber how you wear your beard and ask.

How a beard trim goes

Four steps, whether you book the clipper tidy or the razor finish.

  1. Say how you wear it

Tell your barber the length, the shape and how high you like the cheek line. A photo helps.

  2. Length and shape

If it needs it, the length is evened out and the beard is shaped to your jaw.

  3. The lines go in

Cheek line, lip line and neckline are set, then finished with the clipper or a straight razor.

  4. Mirror check

Look at both sides in the mirror and ask for any changes before you get up.

I always spring for the beard line up as well as no one can get my beard looking as good as they do.

Mo did a very good job on my haircut. He made very clean lines edging my beard and hairline as requested.

Beard trim questions

If yours isn’t here, call (770) 417-8090 and someone will answer.

How much is a beard trim?

$12 for a clipper line-up, or $25 for a line-up with a straight-razor finish. Add a men’s haircut for $25 or a fade for $30. Every price is listed.

What is a beard line-up?

It’s the edges of the beard: the cheek line, the lip line under the mustache and the neckline under the jaw, set clean so the beard has a clear shape. A clipper line-up keeps those edges soft. A razor line-up clears the skin outside them for a sharper finish.

Should I go to a barber for a beard trim?

For the lines, it helps. The cheek line and neckline are hard to see and hard to get even on yourself. You can keep the length at home and come in for the line-up when the edges go soft.

What should I tell the barber?

How long you want it, how high the cheek line should sit, and whether you want the edges soft or sharp. A photo of a beard you like is the quickest way. If you’re growing it out, say so and ask for the edges only.

Should my beard line be straight or curved?

It depends on where your beard grows. Most cheek lines follow a gentle curve from the sideburn to the corner of the mustache; a straight, low line suits some faces better. The neckline usually sits just above the Adam’s apple. Your barber will follow your natural growth rather than cut into it.

How long does a beard line-up last?

The edges look sharp for a few days, then stubble softens them. A razor finish stays crisp a little longer because the skin outside the line is cleared right down. The clipper line-up is $12, so it is easy to book between haircuts.

Can I get a haircut and beard trim together?

Yes. Hair & Beard Line-up is $50 for a classic cut or fade with razor beard shaping. Select that service on Fresha when booking both together.

Do I need an appointment?

No. Walk-ins are welcome, and you can book online if you want a set time. We’re open every day: Monday to Thursday 10 to 7, Friday 9:30 to 7, Saturday 9:30 to 6 and Sunday 10 to 5. To pick a barber, Book now.
