Which hair color service do you need?

Each lock shows where the color sits, root to ends. Pick one to see how it looks, how it grows out and how much upkeep it needs.

Full color

One shade, from the root to the ends.

Looks like
An even, all-over color: a richer version of your own shade, or a new one.
Grows out
New growth shows as a line at the root, sooner on dark or gray hair.
Upkeep
Higher: the roots need touching up to keep it even.

Ask about full color

Highlights

Fine lightened strands, woven in foils from close to the root.

Looks like
Brighter and more even, with light running through the whole head.
Grows out
The lighter strands grow away from the root, so regrowth is noticeable.
Upkeep
Medium: refreshed at the root to keep the brightness.

Ask about highlights

Balayage

Painted on by hand, soft at the root and lighter toward the ends.

Looks like
Sun-lightened and lived-in, with your own color left at the root.
Grows out
Softly. There is no hard line, because the root was never lightened.
Upkeep
Lower: it can go longer between visits.

Ask about balayage

Root touch-up

Only the new growth, matched to the color you already have.

Looks like
Like your color the day it was done: no band at the parting.
Grows out
Resets the clock on full color or gray coverage without redoing the lengths.
Upkeep
This is the upkeep: the visit between full colors.

Ask about root touch-up

Gray coverage

Every gray strand, covered and blended into one color.

Looks like
Your color back, with no silver showing through at the temples or the part.
Grows out
Gray shows first at the root, so it pairs with root touch-ups.
Upkeep
Higher: gray regrowth is easy to see.

Ask about gray coverage

Highlights vs balayage

Both lighten your hair. The difference is where the light starts and how it grows out.

How a color appointment goes

Color takes longer than a haircut, so plan for it. Book a time, or request a consultation first if you’re not sure what to ask for.

  1. Talk it through

Show a photo of the color you want. Say if you have used box dye, henna or lightener before, because it changes what is possible.

  2. Color goes on

All over, in foils or painted by hand, depending on the service you chose.

  3. Process and rinse

The color sits until it has taken, then it is rinsed out at the basin.

  4. Finish

If you asked for a cut or a blow-dry, it comes next. Then a look in the mirror.

Tell us what you want. The shop will call you to talk it through and find a time.

There is no set price for color here. Long, thick hair takes more color than short hair, and lightening takes more again, so your stylist quotes once they have seen your hair.

Covering gray for men?

Men’s color is done in the barber’s chair: a soft or deep blend, or full color, for $30. Add a cut in the same visit if you want one.

Hair color questions

If yours isn’t here, call (770) 417-8090 and someone will answer.

What’s the difference between highlights and balayage?

Highlights are fine strands lightened in foils, starting close to the root. The result is brighter and more even. Balayage is painted on by hand. It starts lower and gets lighter toward the ends, so it looks sun-lightened and grows out without a hard line.

Is balayage more expensive than highlights?

The price depends on your hair more than on the technique. Length, thickness and how light you want to go all change it. Balayage can go longer between visits, which is worth weighing. Your stylist quotes both once they have seen your hair.

How much does hair color cost here?

We do not have a set price for color. Your stylist quotes it once they have seen your hair, before any color goes on. Ask when you request a consultation. Our set prices for other services are listed here.

How long does balayage last?

Balayage is painted on with the root left soft, so it grows out gradually with no hard line at the part. That is why it can go longer between visits than foil highlights. Ask your stylist how often your hair would need it.

Can I get a haircut and color in the same visit?

Yes. Say so when you book or request a consultation, so enough time is set aside.

Do you cover gray hair?

Yes. Choose all-over gray coverage, or a root touch-up to keep it covered as it grows. Men can get gray handled in the barber’s chair (men’s hair color, $30).

Can you fix box dye or uneven color?

Bring it to a consultation and choose “Fixing color I already have”. Tell your stylist what has been used and when, because box dye and henna change what is possible, and they will tell you what can be done.

How do I find a good colorist near me?

Look at real work, not stock photos. Read what customers say about color in particular. Ask how they would get from your hair now to the color you want. A good colorist explains the plan and the price before starting. Ours is the shop at 3710 Old Milton Pkwy.

Do I need an appointment for hair color?

Yes, it is best to. Walk-ins are welcome for cuts every day, but color takes longer, so Book now or request a consultation and the shop will call you.

Are you open on Sunday?

Yes, 10 AM to 5 PM every Sunday. Monday to Thursday we are open 10 to 7, Friday 9:30 to 7, and Saturday 9:30 to 6.

Tell us the color. We’ll plan it with you.
